Snow Paint

Chicago has been very snowy this year, like much of the country. Our kids love it and want to spend lots of time in it.
Here is fun outdoor art activity we did with ...

We started by picking out different colors of kool-aid. We made them with half the water and none of the sugar. We filled clean spray bottles with the kool-aid. We added some food coloring to the weaker shades. Later we realized sugar free might have worked better, since it comes with sweetener in it. The kids of course ended up eating the colorful snow which was a little on the sour side without the sugar. Next we made stencils out of construction paper. Cardboard would work better if you wanted to reuse them another day. Then we bundled up and started spraying anything white!

The stencils worked great!
And the snow tasted great!!!!
Even the bushes got a makeover!
We all had so much fun! Give snow paint a try!

  5. Hello! I am a norwegian blogger. I love your recycled crafts :)
I am an artist and a teacher in arts and crafts.
You can see some work from my students on my blog.
I will put your blog on my list over recycle blogs on the left side on my blog

  6. BLESS YOU for posting this today - I so needed it! My kids are nearly seven, and we've had snow on the ground for months (Minneapolis); the snow alone has sort of lost its novelty. It was great to have something specific and interesting for them to do to get them Out Of The House. Thank you!

  7. This is perfect for our VT winters... especially the 14 inches of snow we got yesterday!

    Thanks for sharing.

  8. Since we've had an abundance of snow here in PA this month, my guys and I have been enjoying playing in it but were running out of ideas. We'll definitely have to try this. Thanks for sharing the idea!

  9. How cool!! I featured it at my blog here:
