Summertime is all about the outdoors. Lots of sun and fun! Maggie and I love spending long days at the beach with our boys. We pack up our towels, sunscreen and a picnic lunch so we can spend the whole day at the beach. All this sun and wind often leaves our lips very dry and chapped! There is nothing fun about that!
We've made sugar scrubs before, so I knew I could make one for my lips! I used the same basic formula - oil and sugar to seal in moisture and exfoliate. I decided to add honey because of it is a humectant, meaning it attracts and retains moisture. It also contains antioxidants that help heal and repair damaged skin!
The recipe couldn't be easier! This will make enough for 2-3 applications.
What you need:
* 1/2 teaspoon olive or coconut oil
* 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar - if you find that the sugar is too harsh, you can use baking soda.
* 1/2 teaspoon of honey
Mix ingredients in a small bowl. Take about 1/2 teaspoon on your finger. Rub your lips and the skin around your lips for a minute or so. You can let it sit for an additional minute or two if you like. Then rinse with water (or just lick it off - it's so yummy!) You will probably have leftovers. You can store them in the refrigerator. I like to take what is left and use it exfoliate and moisturize my hands.
Your lips will be silky smooth and kissably soft! Ready for you favorite lipstick and of course, lots of kisses!
P.S. I just realized this is our second lip post this week! Check out Maggie's lip plumper!
