Shower & Tub Cleaning Wand!

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones!  Our boys start school again today, having had two weeks off for the holidays. I, for one, plan on spending the next couple days reclaiming my house. It was wonderful having them home, but I forget what amazing messes these guys can make! So with this desire to clean in mind, I decided to share this idea from Joyful Homemaking: a Shower & Tub Cleaning Wand! It makes cleaning the tub and shower a breeze, since you can do it while you are actually in the shower! It makes me feel like I'm doing two things at once, which as a mom (aka professional multi-tasker) is invaluable!

What You Need:
  • Dish Wand (got mine at the dollar store!)
  • Dish Soap
  • Vinegar

Simply fill your wand with half soap and half vinegar. Yeah. That's it. Shake it up and get cleaning!  I hung mine up in the shower using a suction cup/hook thing (also a dollar store find) so it's always within easy reach. Then before I get out of the shower I give it a quick scrub and rinse! Easy-peasy!

Now if cleaning the rest of my house were this simple!

  3. I've done the same thing with the wand, Dawn and vinegar. It is great. I didn't have any luck with the dollar store wands though. Spent a little more for 1 at Target and it's held up very well.

  4. Great idea - thanks! (make sure and get a wand that doesn't leak, mine from dollar store leaked but I will definitely try another.)

  5. IS it a particular type of Dawn?

    1. Nope! Any old dish soap will do. We just happened to be Dawn users. :)

  6. I have tried this with 3 different wands and each time, the cleaner just oozes out. Any suggestions?

  8. I tried this as well - love the idea! But the wand (which wasn't dollar store - it was a good one) just leaked out the soap.

  9. Try storing sponge side up in the shower carry if you have leaks.

  10. Also had the leakage problem with the wand. Leaked out a quarter of the solution in the amount of time it took me to pee after hanging it up. Officially storing wand side up.

  11. I used to use the dawn soap and vinegar technique but to me it just smells like feet... so I stopped using it.

  12. I second the people who had leakage issues (with this exact same wand)- I store it upside down in a shower basket, and that solves the problem!
